Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) have a barrier to learning which makes it harder for them to learn or access the curriculum.
A child with Special Educational Needs may need extra or different help because of:
- Physical and/or sensory difficulties
- Problems with their communication skills or delayed language development
- Problems with thinking and understanding
- Problems with emotional or behavioural issues
At Cadoxton Primary School we are committed to helping each of our pupils to develop to their full potential, bearing in mind their individual needs and abilities. We endeavour to welcome all children to the school, whatever their special needs. We recognise that each child is an individual and we strive to provide the necessary resources and support to meet each pupil’s particular needs so that they can grow in knowledge, understanding and self-confidence and develop as independent learners.
The school has clear procedures for identifying and assessing the special needs of individual children and an effective graduated response to support their identified needs.
The SEN Learning Resource Room

In the Learning Resource Room, both the SENCO and the LSA run a teaching timetable of small group withdrawal for pupils who are School Action or School Action Plus.
The organisation of the groups, individual work, consultations and related activities is managed by the SENCO.
