Welcome to class 5
Spring Term 2009.
This term we have been learning about "Houses and Homes."
We have looked closely at the different homes we live in and compared them to homes from all over the world.
Saint David's Day was celebrated in it's usual style with the children dressing up and taking part in our school eisteddford. We sang songs, recited Welsh poems and worked hard towards art and handwriting competitions.
The children look very smart in their Welsh costumes.

Easter
The children continued to dress up for our Easter celebrations too. The Easter bonnet and egg decoration competitions are always lots of fun.

The Easter fun continued with the children making chocolate nest cakes which soon disappeared!

Many of the children took part in the "Kerb Craft" project. They found out about the dangers involved on our roads and how to cross them safely. Mrs. Jenkins came to school to congratulate the children and give them a certificate, a booklet and a new pencil case.

Next term we will be finding out all about animals. Perhaps you could help by visiting the library or finding your own information about different types of animals.
Many thanks to those of you who have been coming into school to listen to your child read. The children always look forward to your visit and are making great progress. Anybody is welcome to come along on a Thursday afternoon at 2.50p.m. so if you have time to spare, why not come along too.
Summer Term.
This term the children have been exploring different animals and their habitats. We have found out all sorts of new things - we even discovered some animals we didn't even know existed! We've looked at fast ones, slow ones, wild animals and those who are now considered "endangered."
But it's not all been about animals. The whole school celebrated a "European Week," and the Year 2 children decided to explore France. We looked at some of it's famous people and buildings, we learnt how to greet people in French and we even ate frogs legs. (actually it was only chicken!)

Shannon and Elisse looked at the colours on the French flag.

Niah used the internet to search for information on France.

Chloe and Cameron made models of the Eiffel Tower.

So did Owain, until...................

CRASH! It came tumbling down. Let's hope the Real Eiffel Tower is a little bit stronger!!!
